Purpose of the Role
To perform internal audit assurance activities within the Group Internal Audit department
To develop the required attitude, skills and experience so that the individual may effectively transfer to other areas of the Governance division or wider Society business areas
Accountabilities
To perform the range of internal audit assurance reviews within the Society's and outsourced operating activities, in line with department and professional standards.
To perform other tasks and activities associated with the Group Internal Audit department, as directed by the Head of Group Internal Audit.
To undertake a programme of formal study and personal development with the aim of ensuring that the individual has the necessary skills, qualifications and knowledge to effectively perform internal audit and / or other governance or business activities.
Additional requirements of the role:
To be expected to undertake secondment (sometimes at short notice) in other Governance division departments as required by senior Governance Division management.
Have the longer term ambition to seek roles and responsibility within the Governance division and wider Society business areas.
Knowledge and Skills
An understanding of the role and activities of an internal audit assurance function
An understanding of the financial services industry and the challenges it faces
Graduate standard level of education, preferably (but not exclusively) in a business / finance / IT subjects.
Capacity for and an appetite to learn new skills and business knowledge quickly.
Flexibility to meet the needs of a fast moving and demanding department, Division and Society.
Proactively seek out work and responsibility.
Have the ability analyse a wide range of information and form conclusions / develop actions.
Deliver to agreed audit standards, review budgets and review deadlines at all times.
Actively contribute in discussions and meetings, sharing ideas and best practice.
Ability to work at pace whilst maintaining a high level of accuracy.
Show initiative and pro-activity in meeting day to day challenges.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
An outgoing personality and the ability to develop excellent working relations with individuals at all levels of the business.
Good PC skills.
