About King's College Clinical Trials Unit

The Clinical Trials Unit was formed in 2002 with funding from the IOP, South London and Maudsley NHS Trust and King’s College Hospital NHS Trust.

The Unit received full UKCRC registration in 2009, gaining re-registration in 2013 as the King’s Clinical Trials Unit at King’s Health Partners. Current core funding is from both NIHR and KCL.

The CTU provides a full range of service from randomisation to analysis and reporting.

Randomisation and data-entry systems (InferMed MACRO) are web-based and thus the Unit’s processes are largely paperless. The Unit has recently completed a number of major phase III trials of psychological therapies with findings published in the Lancet (RMC, RIOTT, PACE, SADD). In addition to having specialist expertise in trials in mental health, we have a portfolio of trials that span King’s Health Partners, with statisticians in other

Departments of King’s College in order to provide trials support in other disease areas.  We also provide support for trials sponsored by other Universities. We host the King’s Trials Partnership, a network of all those with trials expertise and ambitions, intended to provide leadership in the education and innovation in good practice.
