Audit Office of New South Wales

An exceptional individual is sought for this highly visible and hands-on leadership role. Your mandate will be to proactively assist with strategies that deliver quality, integrated financial and performance audits that support the government’s priorities in a collaborative and cohesive manner.

You will support the Auditor-General to manage the Audit Office of New South Wales, providing high level professional advice on all Audit Office matters, including critical issues and solutions. This includes overseeing the Audit Office’s financial audit, performance audit and corporate services branches, and taking on the role of Acting Auditor-General if required.

You will ensure the multi-disciplinary workforce is working together collaboratively and in conjunction with NSW Government agencies. You will do this through delivering innovative and meaningful audit reports, and providing proactive advice to parliament, ministers, CEOs and other senior executives.

You will have the reputation as a strong lateral thought leader who has the expertise to inspire, guide and engage a very diverse internal and external stakeholder set to bring initiatives to life in a genuinely collaborative fashion through technology, people and processes. You excel at influencing and driving commercial and transformational outcomes in a regulated environment. Proven experience in extracting the real issues and implementing responsive governance will be complemented by deep knowledge of current trends in the public sector and in financial audit and accounting management.

The Audit Office is recognised for audit excellence in the public sector. It has one of the largest and most diverse client bases and helps parliament hold government accountable for the use of public money. It has strong values around purpose, people and professionalism.

Tertiary and a postgraduate qualification in an appropriate business discipline is a requirement of the role.
