Senior Internal Auditor role in this global FTSE 100 Group reporting to the Head of Audit (UK). Leading audits, business partnering and supporting the HoA to develop internal controls and add commercial value. Based in Berkshire with limited travel (10% UK)

The role will be a key position within the UK Internal Audit team and is a broad role covering a range of financial and operational audits in a highly complex organisation.  The role requires a risk-based approach to audit and the ability to lead audits to deliver assurance over business processes and control environment, acting as a business partner to the management team. This is a great opportunity to develop a network with senior business stakeholders, offering an excellent platform for career development.

This is not a traditional IA role with clearly defined programmes of work, you will need to be able to sit with senior stakeholders, ask what their challenges are, look at risks, problems and find out how best to support.  They will network, do a lot of digging and pull together their own programme of work to audit.  In that regard it’s quite consultative and involves strategic thinking.  The Head of Audit has oversight and visibility of the team and their stakeholders, but essentially, there’s a lot of autonomy.

The successful candidate will be a qualified accountant or auditor (or international equivalent) with a strong academic record.  You will have experience of working in or with large, fast-paced, complex organisations and be motivated to develop and progress quickly.  Commerciality is key and you must be able to demonstrate a commercial mindset and an ‘outside the box’ approach to problem solving.  This is a business partnering role so confidence, gravitas and the ability to influence and partner with senior stakeholders is vital.  Although internal audit experience is preferred, this would also be an excellent role for someone making their first move from an external audit practice, looking to start a career in a large global organisation.

The organisation has a really good work-life balance. There’s a whole flexible working strategy where the focus is on the results you achieve and everything from hot desking to home working and flexible hours is embraced. The working environment also has a big focus on well-being. It’s a beautifully landscaped, modern, vibrant environment.

The business views the IA department as a training ground for future leaders and as such progression can be rapid and there are many internal opportunities for the right people.
