As Franchise Engagement Manager you will act as a business liaison to either the Commercial & Private Banking or the Corporate & Institutional Banking business, playing a crucial role in obtaining the information needed for stress testing, and putting the results into a context of commercial reality for our businesses.

Enterprise Wide Risk (EWR) deals with risks that manifest themselves at the aggregate level of the bank. So we take a strategic, bank-wide view of risk management.

We manage areas like capital and liquidity risk, which are entity driven (rather than pure credit, market or operational risk views), as we'll as risk appetite and policy framework which apply across the bank globally. We are a centre of expertise for all centralised risk model development activity, from stress testing to capital adequacy. We also own the end-to-end risk management framework, how it fits together, and work on its adoption and consistent application across the bank. This makes us a key area in delivering security to both customers and shareholders.

What you'll do

In recent years stress testing has become a key tool in the industry, both for regulators to assess the strength of banks, and to guide internal commercial decision making. At RBS our capabilities have grown rapidly, and stress testing outputs are used inform thinking up to Board level.

As Franchise Engagement Manager, you'll be aligned to either our Commercial & Private Banking business, or the Corporate & Institutional Banking business. You will build relationships with key stakeholders in the franchise, and using your influence to embed stress testing into their planning cycle. you'll understand their strategy, and use a stress testing lens to constructively challenge their plans.

You'll play a key role in helping the effectiveness of stress testing by:

  • Obtaining the necessary inputs from the business so that the process runs smoothly
  • Developing your stakeholders understanding of their roles and responsibilities
  • Providing robust review and challenge of stress testing results
  • Supporting in setting the agenda for firm-wide stress testing and portfolio analytics activities


What you'll bring

Were looking for someone who has a good level of business experience, with a good understanding of a commercial or investment banking business at a similar scale, including an understanding of products which encompasses their design and pricing, and of the market. You should also have a broad understanding of stress testing, and of the regulatory environment we operate in.

You won't need experience of a prior business liaison role, but we'll expect you to demonstrate the strong relationship building, communication and influencing skill you'll need. you'll also need to take an organised approach to your work, and be a strong coordinator.

This role falls under Conduct Rules of the Individual Accountability Regime (IAR) and is subject to pre-employment screening.
