Head of Risk & Resilience - £90,000-£100,000 Retail Banking An exciting new opportunity has come up with a Banking environment, for a company who are currently going through an exciting period of growth, and transformation. This role will play a crucial role in helping to build out first line controls, and embed a resilience framework to future proof the business. This role supports the COO (SMF24) and the CIO through the delivery of a 1LOD Risk Management framework. The role also has responsibility for Operational Resilience OR. Business Continuity Management and Crisis Management. . KEY WORKING RELATIONSHIPS The Head of Risk & Resilience partners the Head of Risk for CCO and CTO, the Head of Operational Risk and the Deputy CRO. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES The COO and CIO functions house risk management teams known as First Line Risk (FLR). The COO & CIO FLR plays an important role in managing risks to the function, and therefore CBS as a whole, and forms a critical part of its 1, 2 and 3LOD model. In addition, this role leads on Operational Resilience arrangements taking the regulatory requirements of March 2022 forwards into their BAU state. Key responsibilities: First Line Risk Oversee the COO and CIO FLR to ensure that risk is managed proactively and to satisfactory remediation. Chair the COO and CIO Risk Committees and drive activity to reduce the risk exposure of the functions and the business as a whole. Lead on the development of risk management within the Bank ensuring that it matures to align to the firms business model and remains proportionate to its size and risk exposure. Support and Lead Direct Reports in their careers through ongoing performance management and development. Work collaboratively with wider function leads to drive a positive culture of Risk Management across the firm. Operational Resilience Acting as the OR Senior Lead, ensure the OR lifecycle is adhered to as set out in the March 2022 Self-Assessment and supporting OR policy documentation. Working with the OR manager, mature the Business Continuity and Crisis Management arrangements to ensure plans to withstand disruption and respond to it where required. Oversee scenario testing schedule and Plan leveraging established scenario testing (RRP). Ensure a robust suite of MI is delivered that facilitates and drives decision making on the remediation of identified weaknesses and vulnerabilities. Work closely with business owners to ensure that the responsibility for the oversight of the performance of the IBS is prioritised. Work closely with the Head of Technology and Head of Procurement to ensure that the resources supporting Important Business Services are successfully managed and so mitigating risks to the IBS and customers. Chair Operational Resilience Forum (ORF) and drive activity to ensure that OR is satisfactorily embedded and OR risk is mitigated. Support and Lead Direct Reports in their careers through ongoing performance management and development. Work collaboratively with wider function leads to drive a positive culture across the firm SKILLS, ABILITIES AND BEHAVIOURS (key competencies) Minimum 2 years’ experience of working in a regulated environment, preferably Financial Services. •A proven Senior Leader able to evidence strong working knowledge of the Operational Risk management, as well as the operational resilience regulatory framework Ability to work collaboratively and the gravitas to operate cross-function at all levels. •Highly experienced in planning, leading and delivering in all aspects of the role. •Ability to think strategically. •Superior written and verbal communication skills. •Proven people leadership - able to excite, motivate, nurture and enable the success of others. •Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships.
