Risk Assurance Officer
Location: Leeds, Thorpe Park, Hybrid working, Flexible working options.
Now let's talk about your role:
As a Risk Assurance Officer, you will execute 2nd line Assurance reviews to evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls. Your role is to make recommendations to Management to increase efficiency and/or effectiveness of the control systems of the functions reviewed, to support the business in achieving its strategic objectives, managing its risks, and complying with regulatory requirements.
Accountabilities and responsibilities:
- Support implementation of the Risk Assurance framework and strategy, including policy, methodology and supporting tools across all Regions and the Group. Contribute to methodology enhancements.
- Contribute to the development of the annual risk-based assurance plan covering the Lowell Risk Universe, incorporating the business strategic objectives within the plan to ensure alignment with the organisation's goals and objectives and coverage of key risks.
- Plan, scope and execute planned coverage of conduct/compliance risk reviews of key business functions and processes, providing assurance over the fair delivery of customer outcomes, including sample testing of customer outcomes across individual interactions and end-to-end customer journeys. Maintain up to date regulatory knowledge to ensure that regulatory requirements are met.
- Use appropriate audit sampling techniques taking into account the requirements of the Risk Assurance sampling methodology and using automated data analysis approaches as required.
- Ensure that the progress of reviews is understood and that any potential issues and/or control gaps are discussed with stakeholders as they arise, and escalated as necessary.
- Report and escalate issues, actions and any strategic or regulatory implications arising from Risk Assurance reviews to key stakeholders and senior management, clearly articulating the risks and implications of the findings, and guiding stakeholders to the creation of clear and actionable plans for resolution.
- Develop and nurture trusted and professional relationships with key stakeholders within the business to support the ongoing engagement of the business with Risk Assurance activity, and to raise the profile of Risk Assurance and the wider Risk team.
- Maintain a current understanding of the wider business and macroeconomic environment, as well as the regulatory, legal and business environment to suggest and support plan adjustments that reflect existing, new and changing priorities.
- Actively contribute to relevant forums and other meetings, ensuring the views of Risk Assurance are clearly expressed.
What we need from you:
- Proven experience in a similar risk management, assurance, or audit role
- Experience of working in a financial services environment
- Competent understanding of the tools and techniques of Risk & Control Management
- Knowledge and experience of Financial Services Compliance/Regulatory Risk
- Ability to effectively establish and maintain working relationships with peers and all levels of the organisation, with a positive and professional image
- Capable of operating in a fast paced and constantly changing landscape
- An ability to remain calm under pressure
- Excellent skills in multi-tasking and managing priorities
- Organised and task driven with an ability to manage projects or experience in leading project or review teams is an advantage
