About the role

This role is based within Operational Excellence – a cross-functional team within English Assessment Operations, that enables the successful delivery and implementation of process and program changes to capitalise on innovation and customer satisfaction with our catalogue of prestigious qualifications. 

As an Automation Analyst, you will be responsible for analysing the needs of business stakeholders across Assessment Operations, potentially other areas within English product group as well, ensuring that the requirements / user stories are appropriately captured, documented and prioritised in conjunction with the business. Automation Analysts work at all levels and are expected to challenge, lead and provide advice, working individually or joint with other teams in Operational Excellence and CUP&A automation team. Interaction may be across all CUP&A product and delivery teams, IT systems, external suppliers and partners.

The Automation Analyst role contributes to the success implementation of automation solutions within Assessment Operations and beyond, ensuring that a high quality, agile and evolving analysis service is provided to the business. This service strives to bring value in terms of cost savings, operational integrity and efficiencies, regulatory compliance and customer satisfaction.

  • Support of and/or consultation with wide ranging stakeholders to elicit and articulate clear customer and business goals.
  • Focus on understanding customer problems and identify opportunities for improvements to drive efficiencies across the organisation.
  • Takes responsibility to work with customers to methodically investigate, analyse, review, define and document business requirements/user stories.
  • Provide clearly defined and agreed business requirements and user stories to automation technical teams.
  • Identify and highlight where processes are not suitable for automation as optimisation using Lean 6 Sigma methodologies is required.
  • Embrace new challenges, building the right environment for the successful undertaking of analysis.
  • Drive their own professional development.

About you

We are looking for a good communicator that can bridge between business BAU teams and Technology teams.  

Knowledge/Qualifications

The following would be essential:

  • Lean 6 Sigma White or Yellow or Green Belt

The following would be advantageous:

  • BCS Foundation Certificate in Business Analysis or similar.
  • Appian or UiPath Certified Accreditation

Skills 

  • The application of agile techniques and focus on the improvement of the organisation and the business processes that drive it.
  • Knowledge of the business – both at a strategic and business process level.
  • Demonstrable experience of the application of analysis techniques, e.g. epics/user stories, BPMN, SWOT, The 5 Whys, etc
  • Proficient at employing a variety of common tools for requirements management, wireframing/prototyping, modelling, collaborative working, etc.
  • The articulation of testable and fit-for-purpose requirements.

Experience

  • Experience of UiPath, Appian or similar BPM platform
  • Experience of Agile delivery management and change management methodologies
  • Experience of operating with complex integrated systems.
  • Effective stakeholder management, working across a variety of seniority of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Management and mentoring of other automation analysts is desirable.
  • Requirements elicitation, prioritisation, approvals, processes and scope impacts.
  • Building traceability, testing and validation materials.
  • Data analysis and UI/UX/CX experience is desirable
