Meraki Talent’s Global Financial Services provider client is seeking a Senior IT Auditor to join their growing function based in their Edinburgh headquarters.

Specific expertise is required in leading and conducting audits and providing technical expertise within the Technology Audit team. You will provide risk and control consultancy to aligned businesses in the across the group. You’ll provide insights, expertise and challenge to management, while developing constructive working relationships with colleagues in a range of functions. 

The breadth of topics covered by the Technology Audit team is extensive and evolving. With this role, the firm are looking for an individual with deep IT security insight to help them shape and deliver a range of cyber security focused audits. In addition to this, you’ll lead and contribute to audits in other disciplines including IT infrastructure and application controls, cloud services, supplier management and technology resilience. You’ll have the opportunity to bring to bear the benefit of your experience during reviews, as well as developing your understanding of other areas.

Responsibilities of the Senior IT Auditor:

  • Assigned audits are carefully planned and researched using a risk-based approach to ensure scope and objectives are clear
  • Audits are executed efficiently in line with budgets and timescales and audit files are completed to a high standard in line with internal audit methodology
  • Audit reports highlight findings clearly and concisely and detail recommendations for improvement actions
  • Identify the root cause of control issues and recommend practical solutions
  • Follow-up of audit findings conducted on a timely basis to ensure the business has implemented changes within agreed timescales and to agreed standards
  • Work collaboratively with other assurance and risk control functions to ensure a co-ordinated, consistent approach to risk management is adopted
  • Support the Head of Audit/IT Audit Manager in building credible, partnership-based, relationships with stakeholders across the firm. This includes direct responsibility for managing GIA interactions with designated senior managers and governance committees/forums
  • Act as a focal point for building knowledge of technology risks and issues using this knowledge to inform the targeting of internal audits effort to key business risks
  • Develop and maintain an understanding of the firm’s IT organisation, their current focus and strategies, to inform audit planning
  • Influencing, working and developing relationships with management to help overcome resistance to audit findings and recommendations
  • Develop both your external contacts and IT skills and use these to enhance the credibility and value of audit work

Background of the Senior IT Auditor:

  • Relevant qualifications (CISSP, CISA, CISM are preferable)
  • In-depth knowledge and experience of IT either from a first or third line perspective
  • Good awareness of key IT risk themes
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in 1:1 and group situations
  • Proven ability to build relationships and positively influence stakeholders
  • Demonstrable ability to adapt and deliver in a fast-moving commercial environment
