Your new company

UKRI aims to maximise the contribution of each of our component parts, working individually and collectively. Operating across the whole of the UK with a combined budget of more than £7 billion, UKRI brings together the seven Research Councils, Innovate UK and Research England.

Your new role

You will be joining the UKRI Governance, Assurance, Risk and Information Governance (GARI) function which is part of the UKRI central services team where you will be supporting all nine research councils. You will be responsible for undertaking and delivering Funding Audits which will either be onsite visits to research organisations or UKRI office-based reviews depending on the size and complexity of the assignments you are auditing. You will need to effectively audit a variety of funding assignments in line with the terms and conditions under which the funding has been awarded and produce full Funding Assurance reports. You will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to develop their understanding of Funding Assurance and ensure the importance of effective funding practices are recognised by the wider research community. Occasionally, this will involve representing the Funding Assurance team at workshops and events.

What you'll need to succeed

A relevant qualification (ACCA, CIMA or equivalent), or a degree as minimum, with demonstrable experience. You will need to be able to communicate excellently as you will produce reports and deliver workshops to a diverse group of individuals. Knowledge or experience within a research environment and understanding of the principles of TRAK are highly advantageous.

What you'll get in return

You’ll earn between £37,789 – £41,998 per annum, plus an additional £5,000 allowance if you are a qualified Accountant/Auditor. You will also be entitled to several competitive benefits including 30 days annual leave plus bank holidays, flexible working and access to exclusive employee discounts.
