Director of Internal Audit
Hanami are exclusively retained to build the audit team of a FTSE 250 (non-financial services) business and our first assignment is to find a Director of Internal Audit, who will report to the Chair of the Audit Committee, with a dotted reporting line to the CFO.
As this is a new appointment, the main responsibility will initially be to set up the audit plan, build your network internally, whilst managing the Big 4 co-source. After the first 6 or so months, your focus will then turn to recruitment and we will help you find 2 Senior Internal Auditors to help you deliver the plan of financial and operational audits and the co-source will be used for ad-hoc projects such as investigations and IT audits. From then on, each recruitment need will be done on a case-by-case basis, but within 2 years, the team should be 4-5 people strong.
You will likely be a Big 4 trained audit professional, with an ACA qualification. Previous management (of people) experience is essential, and experience of audit, be it external or internal audit in a non-financial services business would be a strong benefit. This role can be based in either Leeds, Leicester or Birmingham. Travel is expected to be around 10-15%, around the UK only. You will be expected to be in London around 1 day per week.
This role would be ideal for an established audit leader, most likely either a FTSE 100 no 2, looking for their first no 1 role, reporting to an AC, or a FTSE 250 Director, looking for a new challenge. We could also consider a Big 4 Director looking for their first move into industry.
