Every day 250 people begin to lose their sight.  RNIB has a crucial role to play in creating a world where there are no barriers to people with sight loss. We want society, communities and individuals to see differently about sight loss.  To help achieve this, our Compliance, Risk and Assurance function provides essential leadership in ensuring that our risks are well managed and statutory compliance reporting requirements are met in full.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Head of Compliance, Risk and Assurance to lead the repositioning of this key function at RNIB.

Working very closely with both the Chair of the Audit and Risk Committee, and Director of Finance, key accountabilities include:

  • Holding teams to account on performance compliance and ensuring robustness of reporting
  • Delivering a risk management function that informs strategic decision making, with a particular focus on the effectiveness of assurance activity
  • Driving a risk-based planning and delivery culture across the organisation
  • Managing the internal audit function
  • Developing and maintaining the business continuity plan

You will have:

  • Experience in delivering organisational compliance frameworks and reporting across one or more of the following areas: safeguarding, regulated services, fundraising, data protection
  • Significant experience of delivering a risk management function within a large organisation
  • Experience of overseeing an internal audit function, either through self, direct reports or external providers
  • Experience of direct working with committees/boards, providing papers and leading decision making therein
  • A professional qualification in risk management, internal audit, accountancy or equivalent
