Your new role
A new role for an Internal Auditor with an opportunity to be involved in shaping the delivery of audit and risk management to the organisation.

• Draft the Internal Audit Charter of the organisation in line with best practice.
• Draft and agree the annual audit plan.
• Develop risk-based annual audit plans detailing the scope, nature and timing of audit activities.
• Design internal audit procedures and work programs.
• Conduct internal audits to assess the adequacy, effectiveness and efficiency of the established internal controls and procedures.
• Identify key areas of risk within the organisation and propose appropriate controls to mitigate the risks.
• Discuss the findings of audit reviews with management on a constructive basis in order to develop the most appropriate, proportionate solutions to issues arising.
• Communicate regularly with leadership and senior resources to help promote understanding and achievement of their risk management objectives, ensuring awareness of responsibilities regarding control of risk.
• Maintain a good knowledge of developments in internal audit practices and their application in the charities sector.
• Lead fraud investigations in cases of suspected internal or external fraud.
• Manage the external auditor arrangement (oversight and coordination as opposed to direct line management) and coordinate their activities in line with the requirements

What you'll need to succeed

• You will have several years' experience in Internal Audit and you may hold an Audit qualification, such as IIA.
• You will have excellent liaison and relationship-building skills as the role works closely with all levels of staff from junior team members to the CEO!
• You could come from any market sector if you have the audit experience and are keen to make a mark with this charitable organisation.
• You need to be a self-starter and have resilience working as a trusted partner with the business, making recommendations and maximising opportunity.
