Head of Audit

Our client is a highly dynamic, entrepreneurial organisation that has evolved in the last 4 years from being private equity owned to a globally regulated FTSE 100 business.

As UK Head of Audit, you will report to the Chief Audit Executive and manage a team of 7. You must have a background in financial services, have experience of dealing with the regulators and be used to/comfortable working in fast paced, rapidly changing environments

The Role

• Responsible for the delivery of all operational, financial and regulatory audits globally across all parts of the business, including the group's substantial US operation.
• Administratively responsible for the UK based audit team.
• Dealing with regulators and external auditors covering multiple jurisdictions in complex regulatory and reporting environments.
• Responsible for the preparation, continuous monitoring and execution of a risk-based audit plan, as well as building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, up to and including Group Executive level.
• To clearly identify the risks and impact of issues during issue writing, agreeing these issues with management and obtaining quality management action plans to mitigate the risks raised
• Deputise for the CIA at Group Audit and Risk Committees and the Executive Committee as required. Regularly attend and present at Group Audit Committee with the CIA and solely responsible for presentation at other business unit / legal entity Board and Risk Committee meetings.
• Leading a team of permanent staff, as well as rotational staff from business Finance Graduate scheme and co-sourced staff.
• Continue to develop and implement audit methodology and KPIs.

Role requirements

• Significant experience in audit, governance, risk or in a business environment;
• Professional audit certification preferred
• In-depth understanding of regulatory requirements, particularly around payments and licensing.
• In depth understanding of governance and effective governance structures;
• Strong communicator, both written and verbal, with an ability to influence and an ability to gain the respect of senior management, regional stakeholders, peers and their teams;
• Confident and courageous to raise/escalate issues in a pro-active, professional and timely manner;
• Self-directed and able to work with minimum supervision;
• Demonstrate understanding of and commitment to the Group's core values

Experience of working across a global audit function.
