Job Details

The Data Protection Act 2018 updates our data protection laws for the digital age, placing greater responsibility on organisations to ensure they have stringent policies in place, and allows for heavy penalties of up to 20 million Euros, or 4% of annual global turnover, for failures to act in accordance with current legislation.

The post-holder will have accountability for assuring the Home Office’s compliance with data protection legislation and providing the Home Office with independent professional advice on best practice.
You will be a highly proficient Data Protection professional and possess expert knowledge of data protection laws, assurance and practice.

This is a broad and highly influential role within a vast and complex organisation.

Applicants must be able to evidence a track record of achievement in a significant, senior Data Protection role leading on risk assessment, compliance assessment and assurance. In order to fulfil this role effectively, you will be able to engage confidently with and advise a broad range of Home Office staff who control and process personal data, reporting findings to Ministers and Senior Officials including the Permanent Secretary.

This is a unique and exciting senior leadership opportunity. You will play an integral role in providing professional advice and support across the Home Office on all Data Protection matters, working closely with and the Information Commissioners Office. If you have the knowledge and expertise to set and lead a demanding strategic course, ensuring that you take others with you, we look forward to hearing from you.
