Procurement Accounting Controller

Position Overview:

This position will play a critical role in providing accounting support for the Company’s procurement activities, including understanding their impacts on the financial results of Company. This role liaises across multiple functions and coordinates the flow of information between multiple levels of management. This position will work closely with Procurement, Operations, Finance and Accounting to ensure procurement transactions are accurately planned, approved and reported. This position will perform accounting research in order to provide management with timely information for decision-making. The position will also focus on continuous improvement to align procurement processes with accounting requirements in a constantly changing environment.

Specific Responsibilities:

Act as partner and advisor to Procurement and Accounting

• Partner with Procurement Leads and Buyers to understand the financial impacts of procurement transactions, provide structuring advice and propose feasible alternatives early in the procurement process
• Help manage the accounting activities related to the Company’s procurement transactions to ensure they are recorded accurately, including documenting initial accounting conclusions, tracking contingent liabilities, preparing / reviewing journal entries, and generating related disclosure support
• Review and approve all new and amended procurement contracts for accounting compliance and complexity, including but not limited to review for embedded leases, embedded derivatives, standard and nonstandard rebates, minimum volume commitments
• Serve as an expert resource for the procurement function, advising buyers on the accounting implications of contract terms under negotiation
• Define accounting treatment for all new contracts (procurement, logistics, and manufacturing)
• Facilitate accounting approvals for new contracts
• Control all lease accounting matters associated with suppliers
• Improve the procurement function
• Work to improve processes around accounting for procurement transactions by driving partnership between Procurement, Accounting, and the Company’s Commercial Teams, and supporting efforts to assist with the effective design and implementation of a global contract management system
• Standardize procurement contract language to ensure predictable and reliable accounting conclusions
• Design and implement a new contract database & tracking mechanism
• Support the implementation of a global contracting system
• Help facilitate the full approval flow for procurement transactions including at the executive
• level within the Procurement and Finance functions
• Review and improve procurement and accounting processes and controls in concert with
• Global guidelines
• Perform technical accounting research
• Support internal and external audit requests

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting; CPA required
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP and SEC rules and regulations
• Minimum of five years of experience including public accounting with emphasis in SEC
• Engagements (Big 4 public accounting firm preferred)
• Ability to effectively lead, manage and prioritize multiple projects, while effectively operating in a fast-paced, complex global organization
• Excellent interpersonal, communication and conflict management skills
• Excellent analytical, teamwork, customer service and leadership skills
