Senior Information Security Officer

£51,500 - £60,000 plus £5,000 location allowance and excellent benefits
Based London

At FCO Services, we keep information, assets and people safe all around the world. Governments look to us to keep their information and assets secure in a constantly changing world. The Foreign & Commonwealth Office is our main customer but we also work with other UK government departments and friendly foreign governments.

Join our Engineering and Technology Division, which is responsible for IT standards and governance across FCO Services, and you will help protect information in embassies and other vital institutions around the world.

Ensure information is protected across FCO Services

Your job will be to manage our IT Security governance function. You will be responsible for monitoring and maintaining information security standards across FCO Services, ensuring we have the necessary security in place to protect our information and the information of our customers. Your aim will be to help establish a new IS structure within our organisation, including an increased emphasis on ISO/IEC 27001, which we will be rolling out business-wide. A key part of the role involves helping our CISO to prepare and review risk management documentation and technical risk assessments. You will also manage a Strategy and Communications Officer, who will support you in promoting security awareness and shaping information security policy.

Apply your risk management skills to maximum effect

Having already gained significant experience within an information security team, you’ll understand IT systems, cloud and mobile technologies, and will know about the theory and practice of risk management. You will be the only senior member of our IS team based in London, so it’s important that you take a proactive approach and can act independently on day-to-day issues. A relevant professional qualification is essential (for example CISM or CISSP). Other key qualities we look for include strong management, leadership and influencing skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with customers and stakeholders at all levels.

Develop our IS culture and your IS career

At FCO Services, your work will mean more. As Senior Information Security Officer you can play a key part in that work, developing our IS culture and driving improvements that will have a positive impact on our customers, our employees, and our business as a whole. Employee benefits include an excellent work-life balance, flexible working, on-site OFSTED-registered nursery and Civil Service pension and more.

All our employees have to be security cleared to the highest level, so you will need to undergo a comprehensive vetting process before joining.
