Job Details

Are you seeking a rewarding career in fast-paced, ever-changing, massive global technology business but with the flexibility to operate remotely and have genuine work-life balance? Well you can have the best of both worlds!

This major listed technology business has a dominant presence in both the consumer and commercial markets in both the UK and overseas built on both organic growth and significant investment in its core operations and in acquisitions. There is a strong culture of innovation with the business being in the Top 5 British companies registering patents with the European Patent Office.

The substantial audit function has a strong track record of professional development and invests significantly in continuing professional development and education of it’s people. There is proven career progression from audit into other areas of governance and into the wider business.  Following the appointment of a new Chief Audit Executive, the audit function is entering an exciting phase of change and investment in terms of both approach and growth of the team.

This Senior Internal Auditor opportunity has been created as a result of the internal progression of one of the team into 2nd line risk role. This complex business has both consumer and huge commercial contracts and so the opportunity offers a wide variety of exposure to some very commercially-focussed audit work on operational areas such as commercial bids, contract pricing, complex costing models and data quality. This challenging role offers an unparalleled opportunity to get to understand the key drivers supporting the profitability of large commercial contracts within a substantial and complex business and to engage with a wide range of senior stakeholders. You will be given a high degree of autonomy to undertake a wide range of audits – both leading teams (with full life-cycle responsibility from scoping/planning through leading delivery to negotiation and reporting) and supporting others (on a rotational basis) but will also benefit from the support and back-up of an experienced senior team. In addition to audit work, you will leverage your skills to become an SME in one or more key business areas, providing business insight and audit expertise to the team and wider business on specified business processes, strategic imperatives and enterprise threatening risks. You will also help to identify, anticipate and recommend the need for changes to the annual audit plan in response to changing risk profiles and business needs and also help to identify/develop leading edge audit methodologies and best practice.

The opportunity is based in Central London but the business has flexible working through it’s network of regional offices and/or from home so in reality you could be based anywhere in the South East. The travel requirement is low at a typical level of around 10% (but could be up to 20%) – across the UK/Europe.

As the ideal candidate, you will :

  • Be an experienced internal auditor with a minimum of 5 years’ experience including at least 2 years in the audit function of a larger complex business
  • Ideally have an appropriate accounting or audit qualification
  • Understand how to conduct risk-based audits in line with best practice and have a bigger-picture view of the wider risk environment to spot gaps or duplication between different areas in a complex business environment
  • Not be phased by complex audit issues, be able to think creatively and identify solutions – not just problems
  • Have strong communication skills and the ability to communicate with precision and succinctness with senior stakeholders right across the business – both verbally and in writing
  • Have proven stakeholder management and development skills

On offer is a salary of up to £60,000 plus c10% bonus (with a strong track record of pay out) benefits and the flexibility to work from home/remotely when not auditing on site. You must be eligible to work within the UK without the need for sponsorship to be considered for this opportunity.

In this way we ensure that any opportunities that we do recommend are targeted to your situation and aspirations.
