Job Title: Head of Assurance Services

Salary Range: £73,036 - £80,553 p.a.

Job Duties:

The Council works collaboratively to bring its plans to life and, as a member of our Joint Leadership Team, this role plays an instrumental role in maintaining its exemplary standards.

Due to the retirement of the current post holder we are now looking for an individual to take on this multi-faceted role. With overall responsibility for the Internal Audit, Counter-Fraud, Health & Safety, Risk Management, Insurance, and Scrutiny functions you will oversee the application of good governance in all aspects of the Council’s operations.

You will manage the shared services that, through a partnership arrangement, deliver Internal Audit and Counter Fraud functions to the County Council and to many of the district and borough councils within Hertfordshire and across its borders.  In addition, for the County Council, you will work closely with departmental boards; championing cost-effective solutions to support them as they take forward exciting initiatives to address the current financial challenges faced by the local authorities.

We are looking for someone with:

• A professional accounting or auditing qualification backed up by significant experience of ensuring strategic business objectives are translated into well controlled outcomes.
• Exceptional communication and influencing skills that allow you to be able to lead and inspire a large team of committed staff as well as interact and build relationships with Senior Management, Councillors and the County’s Audit Committee.
