Deputy Director: Head of Delivery Analysis

From £70,000 plus excellent benefits

Nationwide

With large and wide-ranging responsibilities, the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) works collaboratively to protect the environment and to maintain and grow the rural economy. Our vital work is far-reaching and complex and the UK’s impending exit from the EU continues to set us absorbing challenges. Join us and you will contribute to the development of new approaches and policies affecting millions of people across the country. This is a career-defining opportunity that offers networking and professional development.

The team

Established on an internal, delivery unit style, consultancy model, the Delivery Analysis team operates across Defra with a mission to build a data-driven decision-making culture. Underpinning our priority programmes, the team delivers strategic analysis, planning support, performance analysis, operational design and outcome monitoring.

The role

As Head of Delivery Analysis, you will be joining us at a critical point. The Government has an ambitious change agenda that requires a radical shift in the way Defra works. You will lead a diverse team of experts to deliver high-quality, fast-paced analysis and problem-solving solutions. Your leadership will be pivotal as Defra plays a leading role in determining how we safeguard our natural environment, support our world-leading food and farming industry, and sustain a thriving rural economy as the UK exits the EU.

Your background

We are looking for a highly credible, astute and adaptable professional with:

  • Experience delivering high-quality, data-driven insights to clients, meeting demanding deadlines
  • A background that includes strategy or delivery analysis roles – for example in management consultancy, Government delivery unit or private sector strategy function
  • A proven commitment to high standards, strong stakeholder management and incisive thinking
  • A track record of leading highly complex programmes of qualitative or quantitative analysis and diverse teams of very analytical professionals.

Rewards

Everyone in Defra is supported to develop their skills and capabilities. You will have access to learning and development from quality providers and support from mentors and coaches. We offer flexible working alongside a range of other policies and schemes to support your physical and emotional wellbeing. Our comprehensive benefits offer includes generous annual leave, a contributory pension, staff bonuses and recognition, volunteering days, childcare vouchers and other salary sacrifice options, and an employee discount scheme.

Closing date: 27 September 2020.
