If you are a qualified auditor or accountant with significant experience and skills in delivering programmes of audit for European funding streams, we would love to hear from you.

The Government Internal Audit Agency are an Executive Agency of HM Treasury and a specialist provider of internal audit and counter fraud and investigation services to central government.

This is your opportunity to join a highly respected, forward-thinking team that builds and maintains regulatory relationships with the European Commission.

Senior Auditors are responsible for the delivery of audit/assurance/compliance activity, often of a highly technical and complex nature, across a varied range of customers. This may mean working individually or leading a small team of auditors.

You will have exposure to the end-to-end audit process, and engagement with senior stakeholders. You will be allocated a portfolio of work, while also having the opportunity to broaden your experience by working on new topics or with new customers.

Senior Auditors are the key day to day contacts for our customers and their ability to build good relationships with a variety of stakeholders whilst delivering efficient and robust audit work is critical. You will work with a diverse range of beneficiaries and stakeholders – government departments, agencies, higher/further education, local authorities, charities, private sector, etc.

The way in which roles are structured may change over time, and so successful candidates must be willing to offer flexibility.

We offer support in maintaining and building your professional career through technical training, coaching and development opportunities.

The European team is based in several locations across England. Successful applicants can be based in London, Manchester, Leeds, Bristol, Plymouth, Liverpool, Cambridge, Nottingham, Birmingham, Newcastle or Sheffield, but an element of travel will be required subject to Covid-19 restrictions.

You must hold full current membership of the Chartered Institute of Internal Auditors UK & Ireland or other Institutes of Internal Auditors that are part of IIA Global, OR be a current member of one of the five CCAB bodies (ICAEW, ACCA, CIPFA, ICAS and Chartered Accountants Ireland) or CIMA.

Government Internal Audit Agency has a strong commitment to equality and diversity and we are a Disability Confident employer. Our aim is to be a department which is open and accessible, recruiting and retaining diverse, talented and high-performing people who support and develop one another.

Our recruitment process is underpinned by the principle of appointment based on fair and open competition and appointment on merit, as outlined in the Civil Service Commissioners’ Recruitment Principles.
