We're looking for a candidate to this position in an exciting company.

• Define and drive the data science and machine learning strategy at Depop
• Support the definition and implementation of the wider data strategy in the business
• Lead and manage the function across the different business areas (product, marketing, technology, ... ) by defining ways of working, best practices, etc
• Be the technical and thought leader from the ML standpoint and work as an advisor to develop data science and machine learning product using agile methodologies in cross-functional teams
• Communicate with a large pool of stakeholders
• Ensure that Depop is relevant in the fashion industry by delivering innovative and impactful projects
• Hire, mentor and coach a team of data scientists
• Represent Depop in the wider data science and machine learning industry (public speaking, blog, Github open source project, ....)

• Experience building and leading a significant data science team within a scaling organisation
• Proven hands-on experience as a data scientist in a technical organisation developing and productionising ML solutions to drive product and business roadmaps (at least 8 years)
• Hands on experience in at least 3 of the following ML fields: recommendation engine, search engine, ranking function, computer vision, NLP, Marketing science, Bayesian stats, graph processing...
• Strong coding skills using python and pyspark
• Deep understanding of machine learning algorithms as well as deep learning techniques using frameworks like sklearn, keras, tensorflow, mxnet, pytorch
• Experience deploying models in production following engineering best practices (testing, pipelines, ...)
• Ability to translate a business problem into an ML problem and design an end to end solution
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills to partner with Product Owners and business heads
