The Government Internal Audit Agency (GIAA) are an Executive Agency of HM Treasury and a specialist provider of internal audit and counter fraud and investigation services to central government.

We have an excellent opportunity to join a highly respected, forward thinking organisation in the role of Head of Internal Audit. In this role, you will report to the Group Chief Internal Auditor and lead a team of up to 20 people with responsibility for a range of audits and assignments. You will work alongside key decision makers, audit specialists and private sector contractors to challenge and develop our offering to help ensure we meet DVLA expectations.

Key accountabilities will include:

  • Engaging with senior partners to promote effective governance, risk management and control.
  • Developing and securing agreement to a flexible Audit Plan in line with audit guidance, quality, time and budget requirements.
  • Presenting regular updates to the Executive team and Audit Committee, and provide an annual opinion on the governance, risk management and control operating within DVLA.
  • Ensuring your team are aligned with professional standards, along with compliance with GIAA's new single audit methodology and audit management software
  • Supporting the Group Chief Internal Auditor, providing opinions on the system of internal controls, leading continuous improvement activities to enhance practice, products and customer service
