About The Role

The AML team plays a key role in enabling the Society to achieve compliance with its legal obligations including the Money Laundering Regulations, the sanctions regime and other relevant legislation.

A key part of how the Team achieves this is by identifying emerging regulation, tracking it, interpreting it and supporting the business throughout its implementation.

The team also provides advice and guidance in relation to internally driven change, ensuring that an appropriate control framework is applied to AML risks.

We’re looking for an expert in this area of specialism; AML.

For your specialism, you will:

  • Identify, track, analyse and report on emerging regulatory obligations and related industry best practice;
  • Provide expert, in-depth, regulatory advice, guidance and challenge; along with
  • Being a thought leader and providing challenge to internal stakeholders; and
  • Gaining insight and shaping the thinking of appropriate external stakeholders.

In addition, you’ll co-ordinate and contribute to the timely and accurate submission of periodic and ad-hoc reporting to regulators (including the FCA); and support the creation, collation and submission of responses to regulatory information requests and consultations.

You’ll also undertake broader more “generalist” compliance activity by contributing to the effectiveness of the second line of defence, in particular by helping the first line operate within regulatory and financial crime risk appetites;

You’ll be identifying and advising on more general regulatory change and financial crime (AML) matter, contributing to internal Compliance reporting and escalation and enabling and supporting the development of your colleagues in AML.

About You

As well as having the right knowledge (including a relevant professional qualification or degree), experience and skills, you’ll have demonstrable practical experience of working on AML legislative and regulatory matters.

You’ll be articulate and able to communicate complex matters succinctly and coherently in writing and verbally. You’ll produce your written output on time and to a high standard with minimal support, this will include interpretation papers, gap analysis, recommendations, feedback and contributions to committee papers.

You’ll need to be inquisitive and resilient and your skill set will include being analytical, logical and well organised. You’ll pay great attention to detail but also be able to see the bigger picture and read across themes.

You’ll work well on your own and as part of a team and be as comfortable challenging people as you are at giving advice and direction. You’ll be comfortable engaging with both your peers and more senior stakeholders both within the first line and the Second.

The closing date for applications is 1st July 2021
