Associate Director - Risk and Markets
As England’s independent regulator of qualifications, examinations and assessments, Ofqual’s job is to maintain standards, to make sure that qualifications accurately reflect the knowledge and skills people have attained through a range of different learning methods.
We work with other Civil Service departments across the spectrum of education to deliver on our priorities and to ensure the best possible outcomes for learners in England
Ofqual has an important role to play in the education and training system in England. We’re a risk-based regulator so our Risk and Markets team plays a key role in helping the organisation prioritise its work on the basis of sound risk identification and analysis. The team provides market insight and analysis that informs policy decisions and monitors the financial stability of the market we regulate.
The Associate Director Risk and Markets is responsible for leading the experts in that team – with specialisms including economics, financial analysis, large-data set analytics and risk management. We’re looking for someone that can build on our strong foundation to ensure that the team remains valued and connected both internally and with external stakeholders. That means we’re looking for someone that enjoys developing innovative approaches, has a strong analytical mind, is numerate and has a good ability to explain complex information to both expert and non-expert audiences.
It’s a fascinating and important time for this work. There is significant change coming to the regulated qualifications market through government’s reform of technical education and we continue to respond to the challenges wrought by the pandemic.
You can read more about the role in the candidate pack and we’d love to hear from you if you have further questions.
Ofqual is a rewarding, dynamic place to work. The team strongly encourages flexible working and personal learning & development. Diversity & Inclusion is important to us. We will ensure that individuals with disabilities are provided reasonable accommodation to participate in the job application or interview process, to perform essential job functions, and to receive other benefits and privileges of employment.
