Internal Auditor

An organisation with signficant reach across the North-East, and of importance to the region, is seeking an Internal Auditor.

Reporting into the Head of Audit, you will be joining a medium sized, tight-knit, and collaborative audit and risk function.

You will lead on a diverse range of audits including carrying out risk assessments, testing key controls, preparing draft and final audit reports, and presenting findings to senior management.

Further responsibilities will involve assessing risk appetite, supporting the planning and implementation of risk management processes, and generally driving a culture of risk awareness, so you will be able to build up your skills in risk management too.

Additionally, you will conduct interesting ad hoc assignments and special investigations such as into sustainability.

Clearly, the exposure you will gain across this business will be extensive, and you will interact across all levels of the business so you can expect to really develop your stakeholder management skills and broader commercial awareness too.  This will also stand you in good stead to progress within audit or into the business (e.g., finance) further down the line.

Most likely, you will come from an external audit background and possess a year or two post-qualified experience.  Internal auditors with financial auditing experience and an accounting qualification are equally being considered too.

Summary of background / skills

• Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA / CIPFA)
• Track record of leading on the delivery of audit and other assurance work
• Confident communicator well versed in dealing with senior stakeholders
• Audit experience gained working with commercially focused clients or within a commercial focused business
• Any data analytics experience would be a bonus

This will be a low travel role with a good work / life balance.

Salary is c. £45,000 + 15% bonus
