Job Details

Are you an internal audit expert looking for a broad and varied role where you can make a big impact? Join the leadership team in the Isle of Man Treasury!

About the role and our team

In this unusual and interesting role, you’ll lead the internal audit and financial forensics function for the Island’s Government. You’ll provide governance, risk, control and improvement advice to all of the Governments’ various Departments and Boards – these include Manx Care, the Department for Education, Sport and Culture and the Department of Home Affairs to name a few!

Your work will include a series of assurance reviews, but also can include specific investigatory reviews into governance and control matters reporting at the highest levels of Government.

You’ll be part of a forward thinking Leadership Team and Department, always seeking to drive improvement across its range of functions.

What can this role offer me?

The role has a great deal of autonomy as the Division enjoys a higher degree of independence than might be the case in some UK government bodies (as can be seen from the Division’s terms of reference), and allows more freedom in the approaches and methodologies utilized.

This role can be challenging, but extremely interesting, and provides an opportunity to not only gain an understanding of the function of the individual parts of Government, but also how Government functions as a whole.

It is an excellent role for personal development and previous holders of the role have progressed subsequently to different executive roles within Government using this experience base to assist in this respect. You’ll also have access to the fantastic range of courses and support that our Learning, Education and Development team and Centre offer.

You will have the opportunity to shape the service to meet the needs of the organisation as a whole. We are due an External Quality Assessment, delayed by Covid-19, and part of the remit of this review is to look at opportunities to develop the service and provide improvements.

If working flexibly is important to you, you’ll be happy to know we operate a flexi-time system making it easier to reclaim any additional hours worked and to fit your other commitments around your work life.
