As a key member of the Internal Audit team, you would be responsible for undertaking internal audits in order to provide independent assurance against risks to business objectives on behalf of the Audit and Risk Committee and key stakeholders. Utilising a risk-based auditing approach, you will be required to report findings related to risk management, governance and controls. Internal Audit has a respected status with key stakeholders, you will help the team build on that reputation through delivering diverse and value-add audits across AWE, including finance, construction and operations.

Successful candidates (dependent on level of role) will be responsible for:

  • Defining test plans against audit objectives and carrying out detailed testing
  • Collaborating with the business to gain agreement to audit findings and actions
  • Delivering quality audit reports which impact the business
  • Developing strong stakeholder relationships
  • Contribute ideas to the continual improvement of the department
  • Coach and mentor other team members

Whilst not to be considered a check list as we are keen on personal development and understand skills are transferable, candidates should be able to demonstrate some of the following:

  • A background in risk based internal audit
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
  • Awareness, knowledge and application of modern audit and risk management techniques
  • Experience in stakeholder management
  • Negotiation skills to gain business leader and stakeholder commitment to implementing recommendations
  • Worked with other assurance providers to support delivery of corporate objectives
  • Focused audit reviews and outcomes on key business issues
  • Knowledge of corporate governance approaches and ways of managing risks to underpin prioritisation of audit activities
  • Used appropriate techniques to objectively review business areas or process to draw evidence-based conclusions

Ideally, we would expect candidates to have one of the following qualifications - CIA, CMIIA, ACCA, ACA or CIMA; but we will also consider part-qualified for an auditor role.

Candidates must be willing and able to obtain and maintain the security clearance required for the role.
