Two/three days a week (Flexitime also).

This role can also be based in Cardiff

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to work in the HMRC Programme Data and Infrastructure area as part of the Infrastructure Programme.

The Programme has responsibility for delivering HMRC’s infrastructure requirements at the Border post EU Exit maintaining the flow of trade at the Borders.

The Programme delivers Inland Border Facilities and offices of Departure and Destination for goods being moved by transit.

Job Description

As a Project Support Officer within PD&I (Programme, Data and Infrastructure), you will be required to support the Project Managers across all the Inland Border Facilities in the South East area.

You will efficiently support and deliver specified elements of the Project, on budget, to specification and aligned with Project governance, ensuring the processes and experience are in line with departmental and ministerial requirements.

A key part of this role involves communicating with senior internal and external stakeholders. Applicants will need to be comfortable with the flexibility across projects/project roles due to the ever-changing environment.

Occasional travel across other Inland Border locations may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting the design and delivery of Inland Border Facility Infrastructure.
  • Supporting/drafting and communicating Change Requests to the business at a senior level at internal and external boards.
  • Support the project/programme to deliver the required outcomes.
  • Build and apply knowledge of your programmes/projects, and relevant subject matter.
  • Supervise and lead on progress of delivery against the project or Programme plan, raising issues through agreed governance for any changes to scope, benefit or cost.
  • Identify and handle risks, issues and dependencies, raising where needed. Work with a diverse range of partners across the organisation taking account of their levels of influence and interests, ensuring all individuals have been engaged in the development and deliverable initiatives.
  • Appropriate use of project resources including engagement of Subject Matter Experts in order to make effective and timely decisions.

Essential Criteria

  • Experience and a clear understanding of Design and Delivery of Inland Border Facilities and customs processes.
  • Must have recent Project Management experience or exposure.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience of working in a fast paced and ambiguous Project Delivery environment.
  • Supporting the Programme Director, Programme Manager and Senior Project Manager in their project delivery responsibilities.
  • An understanding and working knowledge of Office 365.

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience of working across Government Departments.
  • Experience of working with External Partners to deliver required outcomes.
