Join Heathrow Airport as Head of Internal Audit on a 12 Month Fixed Term Contract. 

You role will involve:

  • Developing the annual Internal Audit Plan, reviewing progress against the plan with Directors and Senior Managers
  • Managing the delivery of internal audit assignments and other ad hoc projects to agreed time and quality standards
  • Drafting clear and concise audit reports that include a clear line of sight between the issues raised and action plans
  • Leading the Internal Audit team to follow up and manage the process to obtain status updates against published audit findings, verifying the integrity of information provided on a sample basis and managing the reporting to Executive and Audit Committee
  • Working with external auditors and other internal or external assurance providers to minimize duplication and /or gaps in activity and improve the overall risk and control environment across all Heathrow entities
  • Maintaining and developing departmental methodologies and deliverables in accordance with the principles of the IIA professional standards
  • Line management of a team of senior auditors, ensuring they have clear objectives, development and training in place to support the delivery of the Internal Audit Plan and wider team objectives.

These skills are essential:

  • A detailed understanding and experience of the principles of operational Internal Audit and their application in complex operational and commercial environments
  • A background in internal audit, compliance, systems and internal control and knowledge to identify indicators of fraud
  • Good analytical skills with ability to interpret a broad range of complex information and evaluate effectiveness of controls
  • Line management experience

Ideally, you'll also have:

  • An understanding of the aviation industry, construction/infrastructure development and knowledge of how an international airport operates and the obligations within the regulatory environment in the UK
  • A Degree or a Professional qualification (Internal Audit, IT Audit, Accounting)

Working location

Agile working means that whilst Heathrow Airport is your contractual place of work, your role will dictate your working location. This means that you can work from home but will need to come to the airport for meetings, events and training at your own expense. Sometimes, you might need to come to the airport at short notice and therefore we require you to be based in the UK.

Traveling to work
