Interim Head of Internal Audit

The Audit and Risk Recruitment Company (ARRC) is recruiting an Interim Head of Internal Audit for a Local Council based in West London. This interim role will sit within the Finance Directorate and assist with delivery of the Borough’s commitment to putting their residents first in everything that they do.

Reporting to the Deputy Director you’ll be responsible for leading and managing a team of 5 auditors and be part of a positive and collaborative team. This role is office-based, although flexible working arrangements will be allowed.

The post holder will be required to:

• To lead and manage the Audit Team in all operational activities and liaise with the Deputy Director on key strategic decisions
• To successfully deliver the quarterly IA plan by leading and managing complex risk-based IA reviews to a high-quality standard and within agreed budgets and timescales.
• Prepare and present complex IA reports to a range of key stakeholders including SMTs, CMT and Audit Committee.
• To be responsible for regular monitoring and evaluation of the IA strategy to ensure the service is meeting the needs of its key stakeholders, including Residents.
• This post will also include regular liaison with External Audit, elected Members (including the Leader of the Council) and with the Independent Chair of the Audit Committee and will be required to attend and present at the Council's Audit Committee
• Complete other reasonable tasks in order to fulfil role purpose or as instructed by the Deputy Director, Corporate Director of Finance or Chief Executive.

The successful applicant will require a professional qualification in accounting or internal audit and ideally be able to demonstrate knowledge of Public Sector Internal Audit standards. This is a four day a week role.

Contract length: 3-4 months

Start date: Feb 2022

Rate: £400-450 (inside IR35)
