About us

More than just an ordinary local authority, the City of London Corporation is the governing body of the Square Mile, a global business hub. Our traditions may be centuries-old, but our business practices are cutting edge - and that includes our approach to corporate strategy. A major programme of transformation is now underway to support pace, enterprise, agility and inclusivity. This programme will have major impact, benefiting not only the people who live, work and visit here, but the wider national and global economy. A newly created team, led by our Chief Strategy Officer, will ensure cohesion between the different elements of the City Corporation as we move forward.

The role

Managing risk effectively is a critical element of our future strategy, balancing enterprise with appropriate controls. As the City Corporation’s lead officer for risk management and a senior member of the Strategy & Performance team, you’ll play a crucial role in statutory governance. You will also maintain and implement our corporate risk management strategy with its associated framework, policies, processes and procedures.  A trusted advisor, you’ll provide expert input and guidance on risk management for Members and senior officers. You will also develop business continuity, emergency planning and freedom of information protocols for the Chief Strategy Officer’s department.

About you

Most likely working at a senior level in a large and complex organisation, you’ll have comprehensive knowledge of public sector risk management practice and procedures, including all relevant legislation, regulation and best practice.  A fully qualified member of the Institute of Risk Management (or similar), you’re able to demonstrate a systematic approach to the identification, assessment and mitigation of business risk, including the use of up-to-date risk management methodologies.  Your highly developed communication skills mean you can instil confidence and exert influence at the most senior levels.

This role is offered on a full-time basis. We are open to considering applications for job share, flexible working and compressed hours working. We’re committed to equal opportunities at The City of London, and we welcome applications from all sections of the community.
