Job description

Our role sits within HMRC's Chief Digital & Information Office Group (CDIO)

The Chief Operating Office (COO) is a group within CDIO that is passionate about driving performance, consistency, and governance of business operations across the business.

Our Team delivers the Business Change Framework with CDIO Group, ensuring our people are at the heart of all our major changes. We lead on delivery of all major Business Change Projects within COO.

You will work to ensure the Framework is implemented centrally and into all areas of CDIO. You will champion the use of standard methodology and provide advice for team members and project community. You will also be leading on various Business Change projects within the team.

  • This is an exciting role, requiring a highly motivated individual who has the skills to deliver success, is adaptable to changing priorities and can challenge.

Responsibilities

Your job role will include:

  • Accountable for delivering business change activity and champion the use of standard methodology, providing expert advice for team members and project community
  • Support the Project Team to create the required Business Change products, ensuring products are fit for purpose
  • Leads on engagement with key contacts
  • Identify, qualify, and update the business readiness criteria across area of responsibility before implementation. Supports the tracking of these to 'approve/refuse' release
  • Day to day management and leadership of projects. Design the project structure appropriate to stage. Select and apply appropriate delivery methodologies
  • Identify key partners and develop effective relationships
  • Identify and supervise project risks and issues. Develop mitigating actions and, proactively chasing up actions to get back on target
  • Provide key reports and support effective governance and decision making.

Essential Criteria:

You will already have experience and knowledge of;

  • Identifying trends and continual improvement analysing issues and how to lead others to the same solution
  • Strategic understanding of operations and development of the business
  • Current, new, and emerging technologies such as Office365 and how to apply them in creative and productive ways
  • Successful delivery in a Project environment
  • Positively engaging with a wide range of partners to develop and sustain collaborative, honest and open working relationships whilst balancing multiple deadlines and partners with conflicting priorities.

Desirable Criteria:

Ideally you will also;

  • Have knowledge of handling risk and issues through delivering timely mitigation and effective resolutions
  • Be highly organised with the ability to work at pace and balance multiple projects within ambitious timelines
  • Experience working in a similar role, interacting with design, development, and content professionals in the delivery of digital services.

Team members that are moving offices as a result of the Locations Programme will be entitled to a Moves Adjustment Payment for three years where they incur additional costs. This is calculated based on the difference between the costs of travelling to and from the new and old office, over a weekly period. You will get more detail on this as part of targeted locations move communications.
