Senior Internal Auditor

The Audit and Risk Recruitment Company (ARRC)* has been exclusively mandated by our client, a global Alternative Asset Manager, in their search for a Senior Auditor.

This position represents a unique opportunity for an auditor looking for their first commercial move into internal audit. Please note that Financial Services experience is NOT a prerequisite for this position.

The role reports into the EMEA Head of Audit, operating within an international matrix structure. As a Senior Auditor you will have opportunity to work across all major asset classes (Renewables, Private Equity, Infrastructure and Real Estate) as well as working with huge variety of clients within each individual portfolio.

Progression is meritocratic, either within internal audit (there are examples of reaching Director level within 3 years of joining as a Senior Auditor) or into other divisions such as Private Equity and Environmental Sustainability Governance (ESG). This is facilitated by an open environment whereby relationships can be built at all levels.

Key responsibilities will include:

Drafting clear and concise workpapers and deliverables that demonstrate a risk-first, critical thinking, and analytical mindset

• Communicating the objective, scope, approach, and results of engagements to the Director, Internal Audit, and senior management within the portfolio companies (often C-suite and middle management equivalent)
• Assisting in gathering and analyzing information for use in the annual risk assessment and audit planning process
• Completing follow-up procedures to determine the implementation of management action plans
• Assessing the adequacy of corrective actions
• Gathering and consolidating relevant information for quarterly Audit Committee submissions
• Maintaining departmental standards and the quality of audit engagements in line with documented audit procedures and the IIA Standards Coordinating with colleagues in the US, Canada, Brazil, Australia, India and China on global initiatives and projects

Background and Required Skills:

Professional Qualifications such as CIA, ACCA, ACA, CIMA are desirable 

• An audit background from either Professional Practice (ideally Big 4) or internal audit within commercial organization
• A clear understanding of risk and controls and a genuine interest in internal audit
• Ability and interest in engaging with all levels of stakeholders
• Build relationships and understand how to deliver information in an effective manner
