Are you a qualified audit manager with experience and skills of leading a team to deliver a complex portfolio of audits in a regulatory environment? If so, we would love to hear from you!

The Government Internal Audit Agency is an Executive Agency of HM Treasury and a specialist provider of internal audit and counter fraud and investigation services to the majority of government departments.  This means our work is varied and interesting, and with wide ranging impact, no day is the same.

We are a vibrant and inclusive organisation with several active people networks, a 360-degree feedback community who regularly engage with the Executive Committee on projects to make GIAA a great place to work. As well as all of this we offer hybrid working, flexible working options and flexi-time as standard; work-life balance and the wellbeing of our people is important to us.

We’re currently seeking applications for positions in our European Team. The team works across several high-profile government departments and agencies, as well as with the European Commission and the European Court of Auditors. Our EU audit work will continue into 2025, following which we’ll be redeploying people to other areas of the business and exploring new assurance arrangements for UK successor programmes to EU funds.

So, what are we looking for? With a background in the audit and assurance sector, you’ll have substantial experience of assuring complex multi-million programmes in a regulatory context. Combining analytical rigour with pragmatic problem-solving skills, you’ll also have demonstrated your leadership and management capabilities. We’ll expect you to manage people, projects, budgets and resources with equal effectiveness. Well-honed communication, negotiation and engagement abilities are essential.

As a qualified audit manager, you’ll have a strong understanding of governance, risk management, control, and assurance issues, balanced with a strategic oversight and change management skills. You’ll have a small team of auditors with responsibility for a discrete portfolio, while also having the opportunity to grow your experience by working on new topics or with new customers. You’ll hold current membership of the Chartered Institute of Internal Auditors UK & Ireland or other Institutes of Internal Auditors that are part of IIA Global, OR be a current member of one of the five CCAB bodies (ICAEW, ACCA, CIPFA, ICAS and Chartered Accountants Ireland) or CIMA.

This role is being offered on a permanent basis.
