Be part of the transition to fairer, greener and cleaner UK energy

Ofgem exists to ensure a safe, sustainable and affordable energy supply to the households and businesses of Great Britain, especially in these unprecedented times in the energy market. As the industry regulator we promote the highest standards of customer care and work with industry partners to ensure that our energy system and supporting infrastructure is safe, resilient and sustainable.

In these roles, you’ll join our Compliance and Enforcement Profession, working as either a Senior Compliance or Enforcement Analyst. This covers a variety of stimulating, challenging work, from leading on energy supplier analysis and assessing their financial states to overseeing significant Ofgem projects, engaging with stakeholders and contributing to the development of our processes.

Being part of the profession also gives you the chance to work on cross-Ofgem projects and across different teams where your skillset is in demand. What’s more, your work will help deliver a greener, fairer energy system for the whole of the UK.

The teams and directorates you could join include:

  • Retail directorate: this directorate focuses on regulatory and compliance issues across the retail energy market, ensuring the best outcomes for consumers.
  • Enforcement team: this team protects consumer interests through investigations and the use of Ofgem’s formal powers, including financial penalties.
  • Delivery and Schemes Directorate: this directorate makes sure energy suppliers provide a range of social and environmental programmes to energy consumers.

To join us, you’ll need experience in collecting, analysing and interpreting complex data. You should also have strong forensic and investigation skills and a proven track record in delivering at pace for consumers, communities or society in general. Along with a genuine interest in energy, you’ll be able to interpret legislation and regulations, engage effectively with stakeholders and confidently manage projects.

We’re also looking for people with excellent communication, collaboration, and organisational skills. Ideally you’ll have a background in compliance or enforcement, for example at a government department, the police or an energy supplier.

We are serious about offering you professional development, training and support. You can also expect an excellent benefits package, a great working environment with scope for hybrid working, and a shared sense of purpose.

We welcome candidates from all backgrounds, and especially welcome individuals from underrepresented groups. While this is a full-time role, flexible working patterns and job shares are welcome.
