The Governance Director is responsible for the daily oversight, governance and support of CCT thoughtfully challenging risk exposures and risk management practices. Consults with and influences business management to identify, formulate and implement policies, procedures and controls to mitigate risk while maintaining a balance between risk mitigation and operational efficiency, and ensuring risk and control activities are achieved within agrees timeframes and meet expected standards.

The Governance Director will work closely with department leaders and relevant internal stakeholders providing operational risk expertise and manages the development, implementation and monitoring of key business operations and processes to ensure all department activity is actioned and reviewed in order to meet strict deadlines and CCT and CPU standards.

The Governance Director is responsible for communication and collaboration with business heads, Legal, Audit, and regulators on risk related topics.

The role holder will be involved in various aspects of the department decision making process including, new product development, new clients, and new or changes to existing processes. The Governance Director, as necessary, will escalate matters requiring further review.

  • Provide review and challenge to department tactical and strategic changes ensuring risks are clearly identified and appropriate controls are adopted.
  • Serve as the central point of contact for governance related activities, representing the department as required.
  • Provide periodic updates to stakeholders (GCG, Risk Management, Internal Audit) on progress of risk and control activities.
  • Adopt and locally manage the CCT Governance and Control framework requirements ensuring timely resolution of open items.
  • Ensure operational risks are properly identified, controls are effective, and properly documented in ACE across all processes and all locations in accordance with the CPU Risk Management framework.
  • Support department’s efforts to address and resolve open issues timely and in accordance with CPU standards.
  • Proactively manage incidents, ensuring communication to senior management is timely, CPU exposure is minimized, root cause analysis is performed, and corrective actions completed.
  • Deliver reporting and analysis over the department’s risk and control activities including commentary over items outside of tolerance to management and committees.

Education and Experience

Master's degree (M. A.) or equivalent; or ten+ years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Ability to lead a multi-region operating group, consisting of several dozen staff.

Language Ability

Ability to read/analyze/interpret business periodicals/ journals/technical procedures/gov. regulations; write reports/business correspondence/procedure manuals; effectively present information/respond to questions from managers/clients/customers/public

Mathematical Ability

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to solve practical problems and work with a variety of variables.
