About the Team

Customer Insight and Design Directorate (CIDD) is a community of 500 people spread across various locations, working with different business areas, and focusing on departmental design priorities.

Design, Strategy, Governance and Resourcing (DSGR) is one of the largest teams in CIDD. Our Design Team has over 100 designers who work flexibly across a wide range of key transformational change projects and programmes.

Our Priorities are:

  • Leading work on the design methodology and the standards and governance processes behind good design.
  • Developing and leading a prioritisation function within CIDD that can build a strategically aligned, balanced and coherent programme of transformational design work.
  • Designing and embedding an innovative flexible deployment model for design work to support HMRC to deliver its ambition of becoming a brilliant tax authority.
  • Build and design professional skills and capability to enable CIDD to deliver high-quality design.
  • Building strong working relationships between design colleagues and customer colleagues to ensure we embed customer insight into design.

Job description

Your job as a Business Analyst will involve understanding and analysing user and business needs, ensuring outcomes are aligned with HMRC Strategic direction. You will demonstrate the ability to challenge constructively and act as a critical friend to achieve solutions that are fit for purpose.

You will facilitate collaboration and lead effective communication with all stakeholders to support design, build and delivery to meet the user needs.

Good design is vital if we want to deliver excellent service and process. In DSGR we are passionate about both. We are looking for someone who can deliver good design by outstanding stakeholder engagement, communications that add value and the ability to influence across grades to secure buy in to our vision.

Candidates should be independent, motivated, flexible, and resilient, as well as take on a variety of challenges.

Responsibilities

  • Engaging effectively with colleagues across the team and wider business to deliver agreed objectives, driving conversations and diffusing conflict.
  • Gathering business and user requirements with a variety of tools and techniques.
  • Using available tools and techniques, model "As Is" and "To Be" business processes.
  • Identifying the possible consequences of change and estimating what needs to be modified or developed to achieve the desired outcome.
  • Analysing benefits and identifying strengths and weaknesses.
  • Managing stakeholder engagement and identifying stakeholders.
  • Risk and Issue Management. Identify, assess, resolve, monitor and report.
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure individual and team outputs meet our quality standards.
  • Track record of driving forward continuous improvements.

Team members that are moving offices as a result of the Locations Programme will be entitled to a Moves Adjustment Payment for three years where they incur additional costs. This is calculated based on the difference between the costs of travelling to and from the new and old office, over a weekly period. You will get more detail on this as part of targeted locations move communications.
