Job description

As a Principle Business Analyst you will be a key member of the delivery team collaborating with all stakeholders throughout the full delivery lifecycle. Business analysts understand and analyse user and business needs. You will work closely with the Head of Business Services and a team of analysts to provide leadership and direction across multiple programmes and projects across all areas of HMRC.

A Principal Business Analyst has a good understanding of the Enterprise Tax Management Platform and will provide a view of the services across multiple, highly complex projects. They will be a point of contact for business stakeholders across all areas. They will be responsible for managing a multi-discipline team and ensuring resources are coordinated across multiple projects and programmes that run in parallel.

Working within HMRC's IT (CDIO) function this role will work closely with the Head of Business, Lead Product and Business Relationship managers. You will focus on End-to-end business operations for ETMP; understanding holistic business requirements, collaborating with other IT functions, and aligning with end-to-end IT service management. You will work with the business to understand and articulate their requirements, ensuring security, compliance and other governance requirements are identified. Input to the future roadmap, working with suppliers and CDIO colleagues to help transform HMRC Finance/Commercial systems.

Responsibilities

Will Include the following:

  • Lead engagement with senior stakeholders to shape and influence delivery activity and governance.
  • Manage a multi-discipline team of analysts to support the delivery of our IT estate.
  • Work with the business to identify change/continuous improvements to achieve benefits whilst aligning to HMRC strategy.
  • Act as an escalation point for the business and service teams.
  • Provide analysis of business requirements, providing SAP SME input to solution designs promoting data and process standards.
  • Key contribution in developing SAP Application and digital transformation roadmap.


Essential Criteria.

  • Considerable business analysis experience with a strong track in delivering the full spectrum of quality analysis outputs that ensure delivery of projects to cost, time and quality ensuring flawless execution and full extraction of benefits.
  • Considerable experience of the project/dev lifecycle across Waterfall and Agile methodologies.
  • Experience working with delivery leads and project managers to support IT deliveries.
  • Proven experience, supporting SAP Delivery across any module, with a preference towards TRM, CRM, PSCD or ISU.
  • Excellent relationship management skills with significant experience of dealing with internal, external stakeholders and third-party suppliers at all levels.
  • Ability to converse with and question stakeholders and users at all levels with confidence in order to arrive at a clear unambiguous view of issues and opportunities.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast paced and evolving environment, bringing a sense of clarity to uncertainty to conflicting priorities.
  • Ability to broker pragmatic solutions that strike the right balance between competing requirements.


The successful candidate must be prepared, and able, to travel in the UK (this may for short periods of time involve frequent overnight stays).

Team members that are moving offices as a result of the Locations Programme will be entitled to a Moves Adjustment Payment for three years where they incur additional costs. This is calculated based on the difference between the costs of travelling to and from the new and old office, over a weekly period. You will get more detail on this as part of targeted locations move communications.
