Head of Internal Audit & Risk

Barclay Simpson have been exclusively engaged by a well-known employer in the Birmingham area to recruit a new hands-on Head of Internal Audit & Risk.

Reporting into the Chair of the Audit Committee, with a dotted line to the Chief Finance Officer, you will be responsible for the development & delivery of the Annual Audit Plan as well as driving greater maturity into the businesses risk management activities, including risk appetite scoring with the Audit Committee and completing the implementation of a risk management software.

Your Internal Audit Plan will cover a range of financial, operational and IT reviews which you will play an active role in delivering. You will recruit an Internal Auditor to support you with this delivery (budget already signed off) and engage with third party providers to deliver specialist reviews. You will report to the Audit Committee on a quarterly basis providing updates on the progress of the Annual Audit Plan and on risk management activities.

You will be an experienced Internal Audit professional and hold a relevant qualification (ACA/ACCA/IIA). You must have excellent stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to influence and challenge Board-level Executives in a professional and diplomatic manner. Prior experience at the 'Head of' level is desirable but not essential. Candidates who are ready to step up from Manager level will be considered. You must be able to commute into the Birmingham office 2-3 days/week.

You will be offered a competitive salary + £7,800 car and fuel allowance + bonus (up to 22.5%).
