We are a high performing, modern internal audit section; looking to recruit experienced audit professionals.  Applicants with enthusiasm and a willingness to be flexible as they help to deliver a diverse range of audits across Council services and to our external clients are invited to apply. The Internal Audit team is professional, supportive and above all forward thinking.

The successful applicant will use their skills to deliver audit assignments, advise clients on control and assurance matters and support our audit service in this challenging and changeable environment. Strong communication skills and being able to maintain positive working relationships with our clients, colleagues and other stakeholders is a key part of the job as well as the ability to work on your own initiative or as part of a hard-working and agile team.

The main duties of the post include: undertaking audit fieldwork and producing formal written reports, including recommendations for improvement in operations. On a day-to-day basis, you will work with senior service managers and wider governance service colleagues to develop and maintain effective working relations.

You will have experience of internal audit, ideally with a public sector background. This will be matched with a sound knowledge of professional internal audit standards, and excellent communication skills. You will be able to demonstrate a thorough understanding of risk, control and governance concepts and good practice, and how these relate to the work of internal audit. You will also be able to innovate and drive continuous improvement in our auditing processes, including sharing knowledge with the wider team.

The role offers hybrid working arrangements, with time split between office-based, on-site client visits and working from home. Knowledge of PSIAS, good IT, report writing and analytical skills, practical experience of auditing and highly demonstrable communication and interpersonal skills are essential to this role.

If you feel you have the necessary qualities, then we would like to hear from you.
