An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced candidate to join our Operational Governance team, based in Bristol on a hybrid basis.

About the Role

The Operational Governance Manager will report to the Regional Manager - Operations Governance UK. They will be responsible for supervising the CASS and Conduct Governance function within CIS, to ensure that CIS events and processes are designed and conducted in a compliant manner and employees have received the appropriate level of training.

The role involves advising CIS business units on CASS and Conduct related matter, and if appropriate, help implement improvements. Tasks that will be undertaken by the Operational Governance Manager; supervise the Operational Governance team, review and Sign Off CASS and Conduct policies, central contact for business advice on CASS and Conduct matters, work with central training team on relevant training content.

Additional responsibilities

  • Supervise the Operational Governance Function, allocating work and monitoring the performance of staff to ensure work is carried out efficiently and effectively.
  • Develop, coach and mentor junior members of the team
  • Review and Sign off CIS CASS and Conduct Policies, ensuring they remain complete and fit for purpose;
  • Provide specialist advisory support to internal clients on a daily basis to ensure that there is no misalignment between policy and practice.
  • Review and Sign off the content for relevant e-learning and class room based learning to ensure that the training being delivered is up to date and relevant for the audience;
  • Ensure the CASS Assurance mapping remains up to date and fit for purpose.
  • Provide monthly MI to the Head of Operational Oversight of activities completed by the team to demonstrate all objectives are being met.
  • Take an active role in the implementation of regulatory change projects including Consumer Duty


Skills/Experience & Competencies

We’re looking for substantial experience of CASS Compliance, strong understanding of UK regulations and the FCA Handbook, obtained from working in an authorised and regulated environment, ideally from within a similar role.

You’ll be a self-starter, with a proactive & resilient approach, able to deliver under pressure. Proven organisational and time management capabilities, along with excellent analytical skills with high levels of attention to detail.

Strong interpersonal, presentation & literacy skills will allow you to successfully communicate across all levels of the business, whilst being able to provide training and business advise.

Ideally, you’ll be degree educated and hold or be willing to work towards Professional Qualifications (IOC). Good knowledge of operational processes within financial services and any exposure to external audits and reviewing policy would be beneficial.
