Computershare has an exciting career opportunity for a Global Payroll Compliance & Continuous Improvement project lead to join our People team and operate within a shared services environment. Working as part of the People Services leadership team the individual will develop the plans and oversee projects on a global scale, to improve the overall operation of our payroll function, working in partnership with the various regional payroll teams.

Our payroll operations globally face day to day pressures to ensure we pay our people on time and correctly each time, and we need to review our processes, controls and systems to ensure this is done effectively.

A role you will love

The role is responsible for leading payroll projects such as system change, operational change, and acquisitions/ disposals, for identifying areas for improvement in regional processes and developing the change plan to effect those changes, and finally reviewing the compliance position for each payroll team and ensuring actions to address issues are tracked through to completion. Ultimately, its about making the global payroll function the most efficient, compliant and effective team they can be, by driving the change needed, and working in partnership with the regional teams.

Other key responsibilities:

  • Lead and/ or support with projects ranging from large business acquisitions, country wide audit to individual system and manual process changes.
  • Work with Regional Payroll Teams and broader organization to identify & address areas of process or system improvements.
  • Provide analytic support of various levels of complexity, including large, multi-year, cross-functional efforts with internal and external influencing factors.
  • Develop procedures and complete the deployment of agreed training techniques, content, and timing of Payroll team members.
  • Maintain data accuracy and completeness across all systems by monitoring operational activities.
  • Provide constructive recommendations and initiate actions to support company initiatives and goals.
  • Negotiate conflicts and complex issues to a timely and satisfactory resolution.
  • Gather and analyse KPI's, provide insight on data trends and anomalies, making recommendations where appropriate alongside any training requirements to improve department and/ or business performance.
  • Works with payroll vendors and/ or other third parties in completion project and audit work


What will you bring to the role?

We’d expect you to have an excellent knowledge of payroll practices, having previously operated within a complex, multi-national organisation, and strong project management experience. Passion and a continuous improvement mindset is key to this role, as will be the ability to work effectively with your peers across different teams and functions in a shared services environment.

What else are we looking for?

  • Proven track record leading a large high-volume payroll across multiple entities and delivery models
  • Prior experience in vendor management of outsourced payroll providers
  • Expert knowledge of payroll and people systems including statutory requirements such as year-end reporting
  • Ability to lead and resolve complex problems including systems analysis
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate with key internal and external stakeholders
