A high profile Financial Services, Banking organisation requires a permanent Senior Compliance Officer to be based in their City, Central London office (3 days homeworking).

The Senior Compliance Officer is a role within the Compliance advisory team of the bank, working closely with Savings management to ensure regulatory and compliance risks are managed in a manner which preserves agreed risk appetite and supports business growth.

The key purpose is to ensure the provision of relevant advice and guidance, to comply with regulatory requirements and/or industry standards, including those of the PRA and FCA, as applicable.

Products supported in this role include Retail Savings products, including Notice Accounts; Fixed Rate Bonds, Cash ISAs, SME and Large Corporate Deposits.

Responsibilities

  • Provide compliance advisory services on a variety of topics, including changes to customer-facing documents, procedure reviews, product oversight, third-party oversight, financial promotions, complaints handling and vulnerable customers.
  • Establish effective working relationships with key stakeholders, including the Group Treasurer, Savings management and the wider Compliance, Risk and Legal teams.
  • Provide advice, guidance and support on regulatory issues as required, in particular BCOBs, DISP and FSCS Depositor Protection-related queries.
  • Prepare accurate reports and MI for inclusion in committee papers or any other forums as required and deliver in a timely manner.
  • Ensure there are appropriate compliance policies and procedures.
  • Review marketing material and financial promotions as required, providing robust check and challenge prior to approval.
  • Review any new business initiatives and work with the business to ensure that they comply with the relevant regulatory requirements and internal policies or standards.
  • Work with the customer proposition team to support high-quality due diligence on new and existing third-party providers.
  • Support the organisation to deliver appropriate training on regulatory requirements as required.
  • Provide oversight and maintain accurate records for regulatory and internal purposes (e.g., Financial Promotions, Rule Breaches, Conflicts of Interest, Gifts & Hospitality register) escalating activities outside of policy.
  • Work with key stakeholders from across the Bank including Financial Crime, Bank Legal and central Compliance to manage varied demands on the Savings business.
  • Work flexibly, deputising for, and supporting the Compliance Manager to maintain and provide compliance advisory services where required.

Key Skills & Experience

  • Compliance experience in a financial services role or from a consultancy background within a financial services practice.
  • Specific knowledge of the FSCS and BCOBS rules
  • 4 to 6 years of experience of working in compliance in a retail banking organisation.
  • Excellent understanding of the regulatory requirements which apply to a Savings deposit-taking function.
  • Experience working with Cash ISAs and Easy access products.
  • A firm understanding of the following: EMIR, MiFIR, SFTR, CSDR and Securitisation reporting obligations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven commercial awareness.
