WHAT YOU'LL DO

We are seeking exceptional candidates with experience and passion to fill a Lead Data Analyst position in the Survey Operations & Analytics team (SurveyOps) at BCG. This team is an integral part of BCG's strategy to deliver superior value and sustained impact to clients.

SurveyOps specializes in supporting BCG case teams on client projects that include primary data collection (surveys). The team has capabilities that enable it to engage across all elements of the primary research value chain with both BCG case teams as well as external service providers. Special emphasis is placed on application of advanced analytics to survey data, providing key outputs that drive critical insights. Additionally, the team also builds models, simulations, and visualizations to maximize usability and impact of these analytics outputs.

YOU'RE GOOD AT

Working with BCG case teams and topic leaders in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, supporting them across different stages of the market research/survey management lifecycle.
  • Acting as a thought partner for BCG case teams on market research and survey analytics
  • Directly driving additional project volumes through broadening and deepening relationships with BCG's consulting team and topic experts
  • Application of market research knowledge to interpret and discuss elements of survey design (sampling, quotas, methodology, questionnaire structure etc.)
  • Leading scoping discussions with key stakeholders; understanding business objectives and context of associated market research to provide recommendations on approach, methodology as well as inputs on time/effort
  • Directing and managing small project teams (data analysts) to provide support to case teams, including, briefing, managing workflow and output for projects
  • Hands-on execution on projects with ability to work with core tools and analytical methods individually (50% of job role will involve hands-on work on projects)
  • Working to enhance efficiency, standardization, and automation; drive synergies with other efforts, and/or potential disaggregation of activities within the team/project
  • Collaboration with survey programmers, third-party vendors, and partners for implementation of online surveys and data collection
  • Quality review of online surveys before launch, data handling and management capabilities to validate and clean data prior to further processing
  • Using specialized survey data analysis tools such as SPSS, Sawtooth, etc. and application of statistical theoretical concepts (univariate, bivariate and multivariate methods) to deliver practical data analytics outcomes
  • Application of Alteryx and advanced Excel knowledge for survey data transformation and processing as well as for creation of formula/macro driven models and simulators
  • Use of visualization tools including PowerPoint, Tableau and Market Sight to represent analytics output in the most appealing and insightful manner
  • Working with virtual, multicultural global teams, requiring cross-time zone engagement
  • Working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, dealing with ambiguity and unstructured situations
  • Multi-tasking; including networking, relationship building as well as formal and informal business development
YOU BRING (EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS)

Education
  • Master's degree with demonstrated high academic achievement in analytics, data science, or mathematics and relevant work experience in market/consumer research data analytics
  • Candidates with the following educational backgrounds will be preferred - Master's degree in Statistics/Applied Statistics, Operational Research, Economics, or Mathematics
Experience
  • 7-8 years of relevant experience in the field of market research and data analytics with clear business development contributions
  • Proficiency in all aspects of market research, including, questionnaire design, vendor management, data processing, analysis, and reporting
  • Hands-on experience of working on advanced analysis methods such as Linear Regression, Factor analysis, Clustering, MaxDiff, Conjoint analysis (CBC, ACBC, Nested Conjoint), Logistic Regression, Discriminant analysis, Decision tree, etc.
  • Strong analytic problem-solving skills with a solid understanding of quantitative research methodologies
  • Proven track record of analysing raw data and drawing conclusions; experience in exploratory analysis of medium to large data sets to find useful relationships
  • Experience of delivering in-person presentations to large/senior audiences
  • At least 2 years of experience in planning, work allocation, team supervision, quality assurance and project delivery
Core Skills
  • Strong hands-on experience on tools: SPSS, Sawtooth, Advanced Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Experience on additional tools such as Market Sight, Que, R, Alteryx, Tableau, SAS, VBA and SQL will be an added advantage
  • Working knowledge of Python will be an added advantage
  • Good organizational, planning and project management skills: flexibility, attention to detail, follow-through, and accountability
  • Solid written and oral communication skills; fluent in English, candidates proficient in German and French (in addition to English) will be preferred
  • Ability to engage and influence senior audiences; motivate, mentor, and guide junior colleagues
  • Entrepreneurial mindset - ability to thrive in ambiguous situations; prioritize and multi-task efficiently; imbibe a 'start-up culture' with maturity to make trade-offs in the interest of a fast growing and evolving business
