International focus and German-speaking countries as a key market

We are a market leading practice advising foreign owned companies and the German-speaking DACH countries are one of our key markets. We have a rich tradition working with DACH-owned businesses and have more than a dozen German speakers across the firm. As well as us servicing a large number of long-standing clients, the German speaking countries continue to be one of our most important sources for new business. An ability to speak the language is often key.

Key accountabilities

As an Audit and Accounts Manager, you will manage a portfolio of audit clients alongside the preparation of accounts and Corporation Tax computations/returns for limited companies and limited partnerships. Our Audit department has been continuing to grow over the past couple of years and is now looking to expand even further by bringing on an experienced Audit Manager.

In particular

Your clients will range from start-ups to large international groups and operate in numerous sectors ranging from technology, property, retail and manufacturing to business services and construction.

You will be involved in challenging and interesting work involving the following:

  • Plan, control and review client work to ensure that the jobs are completed as efficiently and effectively as possible by allocating the resources available.
  • Prepare fee schedules and bill for review and approval, explaining any extra charges also identifying and explaining any write offs or profits.
  • Brief audit or accounts staff on the client and the nature of its business ensuring that the most cost-effective approach to the job is clearly communicated. Carry out debrief and provide feedback at end of assignments.
  • Review all work received as soon as possible, ensuring that any issues arising are referred to the audit staff for completion before any outstanding issues are escalated to partner level
  • Ensure, as far as possible that trainees are allocated a variety of jobs to provide a broad range of training and maximise their experience.
  • Complete staff review forms after the end of each job identifying any areas needing further development and giving feedback to ensure improved future performance.
  • Identify opportunities for additional services that the company can provide to clients Identify and target new clients through networking, marketing and client referrals.
  • Provide technical advice to audit staff, ensuring that briefing takes place for all jobs, discussing planning, how the job is going, what is expected of them and any review points that arise.

To be considered for this role you must be ACA/ACCA qualified and have experience of working in a similar capacity within a practice. You must also speak German either fluently or at business level and have a strong interest in using your language capabilities in your day-to-day work.

A successful candidate would ideally also like to get involved in the wider business development efforts of the German team at Blick Rothenberg working closely with the partners. This could involve participation in networking events, new client pitches and the preparation of collateral specifically targeted at the German speaking countries.
