Join our team as a Senior Freshwater Ecology Data Scientist and play a key role in driving forward our dynamic approach to freshwater hydro-ecology data collection and analysis. We are passionate about using hydro-ecological data to provide our clients with evidence-based solutions as we find innovative ways to tackle environmental challenges with a particular focus on balancing environmental and anthropogenic needs for water.

About the role

As a Senior Freshwater Ecology Data Scientist, you will be responsible for delivering a diverse range of projects for the UK water and energy industries, as well as their environmental regulators. You will leverage your expertise in statistical and geospatial data analysis to design, optimize, and analyse large-scale environmental monitoring programs for a portfolio of freshwater ecology and hydro-ecology projects. Working closely with other members of our dynamic team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality data analysis and technical reports that provide our clients with evidence-based solutions.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to expand our customer base and service offerings by developing and maintaining strong relationships with our clients. As part of our team, you will have the opportunity to work on truly unique and innovative projects that are helping to tackle some of the most pressing environmental challenges of our time

Requirements

  • BSc or MSc degree in a relevant subject and at least three-four years’ professional experience in an analytical role involving management, analysis and visualisation of environmental, ecological, or freshwater datasets.
  • Proficiency with MS Excel and R programming.
  • Proven ability to plan and deliver analytical projects on time and within budget.
  • Strong, creative problem-solving, organisational and analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of UK policy, legislation and issues relating to freshwater ecosystems or water resources.
  • Excellent communication and report writing skills.


Desirable

  • Proficiency with R Shiny, ArcGIS/QGIS, PowerBI, Python, MS Access, SQL, or similar.
  • Experience of working in a commercial consultancy environment.
  • Experience of aquatic ecological impact assessment.
