The Irish Concrete Federation (ICF) is the national representative organisation for the Irish aggregates and concrete products manufacturing industry. The Federation has 74 members operating at approximately 300 locations throughout the country. The ICF's members are responsible for the manufacture and supply of the key building materials used in the construction of Ireland's built environment.

THE POSITION

Reporting to the Chief Executive, the Head of Sustainability will be accountable for implementing the ICF's Sustainability Plan to achieve the organisation's sustainability goals. The post-holder will lead sustainability across the industry and drive communications with members, construction industry stakeholders and government.

Principal responsibilities inherent within this tremendous role will include: lead and deliver ICF's sustainability plan; promote and embed sustainability into the sector's activities, processes and procedures; develop and manage key stakeholder relationships and strategic partnerships with the construction sector, Government (national and local), environmental non-governmental sectors and the media to improve information, knowledge and public understanding of the sector, its products and sustainability activities; provide support and technical advice to members to enable them to meet their sustainability responsibilities in areas such as carbon reduction, biodiversity, recycling, waste reduction, resource conservation and environmental impacts.

REQUIREMENTS

Suitably qualified candidates will be high calibre experienced sustainability professionals operating at management level or above ideally with a knowledge of the building materials, construction, engineering or architectural design sectors.

In addition, candidates will possess an entrepreneurial mindset together with excellent organisational, problem-solving and relationship management skills. A comprehensive understanding of the key sustainability drivers, issues and trends in construction and the built environment on a global, national and regional basis will be beneficial.

There is a requirement to regularly travel within Ireland and the European Union.
