For an experienced cloud expert with a proven record of leading the development and delivery of cloud services and solutions with 1000+ users – this is a truly unique and challenging opportunity.

The Office of Government Property (OGP) manages the UK Government’s property estate. A portfolio worth around £515bn, it spans everything from offices, hospitals, schools, prisons, courts, warehouses, homes and barracks to railways, roads, airways, canals, ports, job centres and test centres – alongside a vast land portfolio.

As one of our most senior technology specialists, we’ll look to you to lead us into a cloud-based future that helps us deliver: collaboratively, efficiently, compliantly and in a sustainable manner. Broadly speaking, you’ll weave together the workstreams of a range of departments and their associated public bodies. The first challenge? To replace a legacy ePIMS system relied on by 160 core public bodies and 300 wider public bodies with a cloud-based database, InSite.

The role

With direct control of a large team and wider responsibilities across Data and Analysis and the OGP; you’ll play a pivotal role in the quality of these systems – their implementation, management and the benefits they delivery (e.g. automation and APIs).

Innovation, customer focus and service delivery will be key. For example, with the initial migration project, you’ll lead the change management programme, champion the adoption, operation and continuous improvement of new practices, take on the role of implementation lead and service owner, and ensure data can be mined using advanced analytical and automation techniques.

It’s work that will eventually see you at the head of a Centre of Excellence Government Service, connecting with business areas and stakeholders to understand the feasibilities, technical complexities and timescales of projects, and harnessing new technologies.

About you

Experience of creating public cloud based data service in a multi-organisation environment is essential.

Commercially astute and strategically-minded; you’ll bring deep knowledge of the technology, data and analysis that drives these programmes. A familiarity of real estate management systems and business analytics software will also help you quickly settle in.

A hugely impressive operational leader, expert change manager, and passionate advocate of Agile working, your understanding of the likely tension points will be vital. Together with your knowledge of software development, business process analysis and data flow automation between multiple systems – it will not only underpin the success of our programmes, but elevate the technical capability of your colleagues.

In return, benefits include the Civil Service Pension, flexible working and flexitime. However, you’ll consider this an opportunity to put your best ideas into action. To create a team in your own innovative image, along with a technology infrastructure the rest of the public sector aspires to.

Apply before 11:55 pm on Sunday 2nd April 2023
