Your Role

Gensler is seeking a leader with deep sustainable design expertise in the built environment , including experience setting project and portfolio performance targets , and with strategic consulting including development of sustainability guidelines, third party certification s , and carbon action planning . The focus of this role is a combination of technical leadership , team leadership , and business development across all aspects of sustainable design and project delivery .

As a Susta inability Director at Gensler, you will join a highly creative, collaborative team dedicated to innovative problem solving and design excellence. Y ou will work in collaboration with s ustainable d esign leaders in the New York Office / Northeast Region and more broadly across the firm.

What You Will Do

Provide o versight and strategic direction to clients and design teams on sustainability consulting projects

Work closely with s enior s ustainability team to direct p roject p ortfolio for the n ortheast r egion in collaboration with design teams

Lead b usiness d evelopment for Sustainability Strategy, Analytics , and Certification c onsulting o pportunities , ensuring prompt and timely response to all proposal requests .

Provide and c oordinate t echnical s upport, fee management, and s taffing for s ustainability c onsulting p rojects

Develop new sustainability service offerings, resources, and processes

Provide t hought l eadership in s ustainable d esign and climate action , both internally and externally

Partner with client relationship leaders to advance sustainability and climate action conversations with our clients

Client Development - build clients' trust and loyalty in Gensler and develop additional business.

Mentor sustainability team members as well as design team members to advance their sustainability expertise and professional development goals

Work closely with the studio director to oversee sustainability team operations including billing and fee management , and staffing

Work closely with the studio director and other senior team sustainability team members to develop annual strategic plans for sustainability practice and team growth

Your Qualifications

10+ years of professional experience in Sustainability Consulting , team leadership, and business development

Bachelor or Master's degree in sustainable building, architecture, engineering, interiors or related field

LEED Accreditation with at least one specialty , additional accreditations a plus

Strong knowledge in building science and high-performance building systems with ability to bridge complex conversations between consultants, clients, and manufacturers

Deep market knowledge and thought leadership in Sustainability with a focus on the built environment

Strong knowledge of certifications and project management, gained through directly relevant project experience and education

Strong leadership, communication, and relationship management skills

Strong writing, speaking, organizational skills, and technical presentation ability

Proficient user of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and InDesign.

Proficient user of collaboration tools including Microsoft Teams and SharePoint , familiarity with Miro or similar platforms is a plus

Experience with CRM platforms ( eg. Salesforce) is preferred but not required Familiarity with Revit Familiarity with building simulation and LCA software

The base salary range will be estimated between $135-165k plus bonuses and benefits and contingent on relevant experience.
